Our story

Aquelia started with a kitchen counter and a choice nobody should have to make.

On one side were the filters that worked: steel towers and plastic jugs that looked like camping gear or lab equipment. On the other were the beautiful things: carafes and dispensers that held water but did nothing to it. The few filters that tried to look good were mostly plastic, which rather defeated the purpose.

Start with what works

We didn't want to reinvent filtration that already had the evidence behind it. So we went to the manufacturer behind the all-glass gravity filter, whose black carbon elements had been tested by SGS against more than 200 contaminants. Those elements, unchanged, are what sit inside every Aquelia.

Then redesign everything you see

Every surface you look at and touch, we started over on. Fluted glass for both chambers, molded and then finished by hand, so each piece carries small marks of its making. A domed lid with a sculpted knob. A polished glass collar where the chambers meet. A brushed stainless-steel lever spigot. And an arch of solid walnut for those who want to raise it up.

The goal was an object that earns its place on the counter, something you'd keep even if it did nothing. It happens to give you a decade of filtered water.
