About Aquelia

How big is Aquelia?

Aquelia stands 27 inches tall with the lid and is 9 inches in diameter. The lid is 2 inches, the upper chamber 12 inches and the lower chamber 13 inches. On the Walnut Stand it stands about 33 inches. The lower chamber holds 3 gallons.

Will it fit under my kitchen cabinets?

Usually not. Most US upper cabinets sit about 18 inches above the counter, and Aquelia is 27 inches tall, plus a little headroom to lift off the lid and refill the top. Plan for an open stretch of counter, a kitchen island, a sideboard or a bar cart.

Can Aquelia sit in sunlight?

Keep it out of direct sunlight. As with any clear vessel holding water, sustained sun can encourage algae growth. A bright spot without direct sun is ideal.

Why are there tiny bubbles or ripples in the glass?

Each chamber is molded and then finished by hand. Small bubbles, ripples or variations are a natural part of that process and make every Aquelia slightly different from the next. They don't affect performance.

How do I clean the filters?

About once a year, or whenever flow slows, take the filters out and scrub them lightly under running water with a plain, soap-free scouring pad. Re-prime them, reinstall them, and you're done. Our Setup & Care Guide walks you through it.

How long do the filters last?

One set filters up to 6,000 gallons. At 1.5 gallons a day, that's roughly 10–11 years. When water no longer flows through the filters after cleaning, it's time for a new set.

How should I store spare or unused filters?

For up to two weeks, seal them in a bag in the fridge, and never freeze them. For longer storage, let them air-dry completely over several days, then seal them airtight. Fully dry filters have an indefinite shelf life.

Does Aquelia reduce fluoride?

The included black carbon elements are built for broad-spectrum filtration. If fluoride is a priority where you live, add the optional AF-2 Arsenic & Fluoride Reduction Elements. They sit beneath the black carbon elements as a dedicated second stage.

Can I use Aquelia with well water?

Yes, Aquelia works with fresh water from wells, rain or springs. We recommend testing your well first. Heavy sediment shortens filter life, so a simple sediment pre-filter helps. It is not designed for salt water. Contact us and we'll help you plan your setup.

Does Aquelia remove healthy minerals?

No. Unlike reverse osmosis, gravity carbon filtration leaves naturally occurring minerals such as calcium and magnesium in your water.

What does the water taste like?

Clean, soft and quiet. Nothing is added, and because water rests in glass rather than plastic, there's no plastic aftertaste.

Does it need electricity or plumbing?

Neither. Aquelia runs on gravity alone. Nothing to plug in, nothing to install, and it keeps working during power outages.

Is Aquelia NSF certified?

No. The filter elements were tested by SGS, an independent laboratory, using NSF/ANSI test methods. The full results are on our Lab Results page, but the system itself is not NSF certified, and we won't claim it is.

What if my Aquelia arrives damaged?

Glass travels in protective, glass-safe packaging, but if anything arrives chipped or broken, email help@aquelia.com with photos within 7 days of delivery. We'll send a replacement part free of charge, with no return needed.

What is the 30-day guarantee?

Live with Aquelia for 30 days. If it isn't right for your home, return it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price. Email help@aquelia.com to start a return.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. Glass chambers, lid, spigot and stand are covered for 2 years against manufacturing defects. Defective parts are replaced free. Filters are consumables, and accidental breakage isn't covered.

Where do you ship, and is it really free?

We ship to addresses in the United States, and shipping is free on every order with no minimum.

How long does delivery take?

Orders leave our US warehouse within 1–3 business days. Delivery usually takes another 2–5 business days. You'll get a tracking link by email when your order ships.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Email help@aquelia.com as soon as possible. If your order hasn't left the warehouse, we'll change or cancel it. Once it has shipped, our 30-day guarantee still applies.

How do I track my order?

Use the tracking link in your shipping email, or see our Track Your Order page.

How often should I replace the filters?

Clean them yearly and replace the set when water no longer flows after cleaning, usually after around 6,000 gallons. Many owners keep a spare set dry and sealed in a cupboard.
